Prize Details

The prize for this campaign is a 7-inch tablet from Amazon – The New and Impressive Kindle Fire. It links seamlessly with Amazon’s collection of digital music, video, magazines and book services all in one package. It boasts a great web browser, and its curated Android app store includes most of the big must-have apps, such as Netflix, Pandora, and Hulu. According to the Chicago Sun Times – “The Fire is a marvelous device.”

We have launched this campaign to promote awareness about the seriousness of drinking and driving. National statistics state that one in three people will be involved in an alcohol-related crash in their lifetime. Even more alarming is the report that “our children share the road with an estimated 2 million drivers who have had three or more prior drunk driving offenses.” Please ask a friend to be your designated driver if you plan to drink. It’s just irresponsible not to do so. We also encourage you to share our powerful new video entitled “There are no extra lives when you drink and drive.” We would love you to post it on your social media pages and share it with your friends. Together we can make a positive difference in our community.

Corned Beef and Cabbage – A Thanksgiving Tradition

Posted on November 23rd, 2011 No Comments

While most of you will be enjoying the traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey, stuffing and sweet potatoes; our family will be enjoying our traditional Thanksgiving dinner of corned beef and cabbage; a strange choice for a Jewish family from Philadelphia.  You see, my father worked in the restaurant/food service industry where over the years he served thousands of holiday turkey dinners.  It was during this time that he proclaimed that there would be no more turkey served in our home; that he had had enough.  When asked what we should serve, corned beef and cabbage was his reply and so began our tradition.

As writer of this blog, I am going to take this opportunity to tell you what I am thankful for.  Here it goes; I am thankful that I have been blessed to be in a marriage of 37 years; that my husband and I have stood by each other in good times and bad and that together we have raised two wonderful sons.  I am thankful that Matt is doing well and is more generous than I ever imagined; that Cody’s hard work has paid off and that he is living his dream in California while attending UCLA law.  I am thankful that all of my family will be together this Thanksgiving and I am thankful for the memories shared of my loved ones who have passed on; especially remembering my dad and Aunt Lois.

I am thankful to the men and women of the Armed Forces who sacrifice so much to make sure that we can live in a free country; where we can say what we want, be what we want and worship where we want.  We wish you a safe return home.

So as you enjoy your day of fellowship, football and food, remember the importance of tradition and the importance of giving thanks not only today but everyday – Happy Thanksgiving!
