Victims of School Shooting Arrive at Philadelphia Children's Hospital
PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Early this afternoon, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was alerted that several pediatric trauma patients were expected to arrive in the Emergency Department for treatment of gunshot wounds; all victims of a reported school shooting in Lancaster County, Pa. The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is a level one pediatric trauma center. Children's Hospital was prepared to receive up to five patients with pediatric specialists from all departments ready to assist where needed. The hospital received three patients.
Three female patients ages 8, 10, and 12 were flown to Children's Hospital where they were evaluated and stabilized in the Emergency Department. The 8-year-old female with neck and arm injuries was flown directly from the scene. She is out of surgery and in critical condition. The 10-year-old female with a head injury was transferred to Children's Hospital from Reading Hospital and Medical Center. She is out of surgery and in critical condition. The 12-year-old female with arm and leg injuries was transferred to Children's Hospital from Lancaster General Hospital. She is out of surgery and in critical condition. Children's Hospital is grateful to the news media for being respectful of these families and the care teams who are working to provide the best care possible for these children.
